Day 1

Colombo – Hikkaduwa

  • Pick up from Bandaranayke International Airport or at a place of your choice in southern Sri Lanka
  • Blue Moonstones anywhere in the world usually originate in Sri Lanka – at our coast we have the world’s primary source of the wonderful blue gems. We visit a mine, where people work in a few waterlogged pits and take out moonstones by hand like in former times
  • We drive to Madu lake, where you’ll get a scenic cruise along the river, passing dozens of islets and endless aeras of green mangrove trees. If you are interested in a challenge, you can have some fun and get a fishfoot-therapy on the spot
  • Overnight at Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna

 

Day 2

Hikkaduwa – Tangalle

  • If u like u can do a Whale-Watching-Tour starting at Mirissa: Whales and dolphins gather around the south-coast of Sri Lanka the whole year, because the sea offers rich food supply
  • Visit Matara Island Temple – the walk over the bridge with water around and high waves is an amazing experience and later you have a great view back to the coast
  • Visit a Sea-turtle-farm – home of different kinds of sea turtles. It is a conservation project, which releases young or wounded turtles to the wild, when they are fit enough again
  • Overnight in Tangalle

 

Day 3

Tangalle – Yala Nationalpark

  • Visit Ussangoda Nationalpark – the newest park and an important breeding ground for sea turtles. You will wonder about the red soil and the small vegetation – reason ist he strong sea breeze at the south-side of Sri Lanka
  • We travel to Udawalawe Nationalpark or Yala Nationalpark and have a jeep-safari – Yala the oldest park near the Indian­ Ocean in the south. It is famous for its variety of wild animals, especially srilankan elephants and leopards, as well as bears, birds, apes and crocodiles.
  • Overnight stay according to your wishes at Ella or Tissamaharama

 

Day 4

Yala Nationalpark – Nuwara Eliya

  • You will have a wonderful train-journey from Ella to Nanu Oya (near Nuwara Eliya) and see the phantastic landscape around
  • Visit Nuwara Eliya, often called ‘Little England’, because it was one of the favored cool-climate places to escape the heat. Have a boat trip at Lake Gregory
  • Visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens
  • Overnight in Nuwara Eliya

 

Day 5

Nuwara Eliya – Kandy

  • We will have a city-tour at Nuwara Eliya and see colonial buildings, nice bungalows and pretty gardens
  • If you like, you can go hiking at Horton plains – a wonderful landscape at an altitude von more than 2.000 meters above sea-level. Three major Sri Lankan rivers, the Mahaweli, Kelani and Walawe rise from here.Most spectacular is „Worlds end“, a famous cliff with a drop down hundreds of meters.
  • Visit Ramboda falls and a tea plantation and factory – the biggest and most famous companies settle around Kandy
  • In the afternoon you see the famous Kandy dance show
  • Overnight in Kandy

 

Day 6

Kandy – Colombo

  • Visit the Kandy Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa Temple) – which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha in a wide complex of the royal palace of the former kingdom of Kandy and have a walk in the city
  • Enjoy over 4.000 species of plants at Peradeniya Botanical Garden near Kandy – including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees
  • Visit the Pinnawala elephant house and a herbal and spice garden
  • Drive to the airport in Colombo and drop you right in time
